Elizabeth Ogidan Lawal, the visionary founder and CEO of Akin’s Biz, has spent her career empowering professionals and encouraging community growth. After moving from Nigeria to Canada in 1986, Elizabeth had various hurdles, including inadequate English language and the need to establish herself in a new environment. Undeterred, she took on several professions, from unloading trucks to driving a cab, exhibiting persistence and adaptability.
Elizabeth’s enterprising zeal prompted her to buy a grocery store in 2000, which marked the start of her company ownership career. Despite personal setbacks such as a divorce in 2002 and the untimely death of her son Akin in 2012, she persisted, turning obstacles into chances for growth.
Elizabeth’s dedication to community development and her desire to create supportive surroundings culminated in the founding of Akin’s Biz. Under her direction, Akin’s Biz has evolved into a vibrant business hub, providing flexible workplaces and cultivating a collaborative environment in which professionals and entrepreneurs may thrive. Elizabeth’s commitment to excellence and unshakable conviction in the power of community continue to inspire and propel Akin’s Biz forward.
